We were pleased to host a distinguished guest-speaker Mr. Oleh Gumenyuk, Deputy Head of the department on copyright and related rights at the State Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Education to discuss the issue of copyright and related rights as well as patent rights in the sphere of laser disks production.

Chamber Joint IT and IPR Committees Meeting was conducted in line with the "Chamber Overseas Security Advisory Council's (OSAC) Cyber Security Conference" and was devoted to the discussion of Cyber Crimes issues that were to be raised during the OSAC Conference on December 9^th.

The overall goal of the meeting was to devise queries/issues important for Ukrainian business and air them during the OSAC Conference. Banking sphere representatives, who participated in the Meeting, shared many hot issues for the banking sphere, which are: interaction between law enforcement bodies and bank security services, methods of the electronic evidence collection (what is considered to be evidence and what is classified as a crime). IT professionals added to the above mentioned issues the necessity in such comparative analysis of the Ukrainian and U.S. practices in the respective sphere. Lawyers are concerned about multi jurisdictional nature of cyber crimes. Generally, such issues as absence of mechanisms to identify level of threat and lack of means to establish a crime in Ukraine were of interest to the participants.
