Antimonopoly Working Group Meeting with Ms. Mariia Nizhnik, First Deputy Head of Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, devoted to the Economic Concentration Issues
On September 3, the Chamber Antimonopoly Working Group held meeting with Ms. Mariia Nizhnik, First Deputy Head of Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine devoted to the current issues regarding economic concentrations.
Opening the meeting, Ms. Mariia Nizhnik highlighted that the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine currently works on simplification of procedures and criteria for mandatory notification in order to focus its work on concentrations, which really influence economic competition in Ukraine. She further presented position of the AMCU on Draft Law #2168a “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Economic Competition” regarding Increasing Efficiency of Control over Economic Concentration”. She also encouraged the Chamber to submit its position on Provision on Concentration in order to improve regulation even before the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Economic Competition” is amended.
Further discussion was focused on other issues related to economic concentrations, such as number of applications to AMCU in case of transaction involving group of companies and functioning of electronic database.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to continue cooperation with AMCU on this issue.
