Chamber Participated in the Preparatory Meeting for the First Day of Economic Development & Deregulation with VRU Head and Minister of Economy

On October 27, Mr. Andy Hunder, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine took part in the meeting with Mr. Volodymyr Groysman, Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mr. Aivaras Abromavicius, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and other state officials devoted to preparation to the upcoming first Day of Economic Development and Deregulation to be held on November 10 in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. 

In his opening remarks, Mr. Groysman informed about the new approach to shaping the agenda of Ukrainian Parliament’s activities: introduction of certain days for systematic consideration of issues which are of great importance for the country. The first such day (November 10) will be devoted to legislative initiatives which touch upon economic development and deregulation issues only. 

Further Mr. Aivaras Abromavicius, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine provided details on the forthcoming thematic day in the Parliament and legislative initiatives to be presented. 

The agenda of the meeting will include 15 Draft Laws on 5 sectors of economy and deregulation:

  1. Reduction of licensing documentation;
  2. State property management;
  3. Antimonopoly legislation;
  4. Reform of the state control; 
  5. Investment attraction. 

Mentioned legislative initiatives aimed on improving business climate in Ukraine; implementation of international standards to state property management; reformation of the system of public administration; intensification of investments attraction to Ukraine; and cancelling more than 30 licensing procedures in the various spheres of economy, namely 6 licenses in the sphere of foreign economic activities and 22 licensing procedures in the agricultural sector. 

While discussing this new approach, Mr. Andy Hunder outlined the importance of discussed legislative initiatives, however mentioned that business community needs more clarity in deregulation aspects of different sectors of economy.
