Mr. Azarov's speech was followed by the official announcement of the President of Ukraine's Order (UKR) regarding the Chamber's President nomination for a state decoration – Order of Merit of the III degree. This award was established in 1996 and is given to individuals for outstanding achievements in economics, science, culture, military or political spheres of activity. The Order was solemnly proclaimed by Iryna Akimova, the First Deputy Head of the Administration of President of Ukraine, in the presence of all guests of the Gala Celebration.
"We've been working with the American Chamber of Commerce for a long period of time already and I would like to highlight only one thing that I call efficiency indicator – we calculated that around 60% of all proposals that were coming from Mr. Zukoski and the Members of the Chamber within the last two years of current Government's work were implemented partially or fully in the different legislative initiatives," stated Ms. Akimova while congratulating the Chamber.
H.E. John Tefft, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine, also congratulated all Chamber Members on the 20th Anniversary of organization's activities highlighting the Chamber's valuable input to the development of the proper business environment of Ukraine.
"The Chamber has played an important role in the growth of the U.S.-Ukraine bilateral economic relationship. Those of us who have only been here a few years probably cannot appreciate the groundbreaking work of the Chamber. It has, for example, helped draft and amend the Tax code as well as the new version of the Customs Code being uniquely positioned to work in partnership with the Ukrainian government. Tonight we celebrate what has happened in the past, but this is also about the future of Ukraine. I challenge the Chamber, its members, and the Government of Ukraine to reflect not only on the Chamber's achievements, but also to look forward to how much more can be accomplished with the right combination of hard work and political will," emphasized Ambassador Tefft.
Closing the formal part of the event Chamber's President once again expressed appreciation of the sponsors of the Chamber's 20th Anniversary Gala Celebration as well as to all of the Chamber Members, without whom, the Chamber would not be the success that it is today. "The Board of Directors and the team of the Chamber highly value the dedication and support of our Members over the years – that support has been and will continue to be the key driver of our success together. With your active involvement and support, the Chamber will continue to grow and develop – just look at our humble beginnings 20 years ago to where we are today - and with your continued support Ukraine as a country and economy, the citizens of this great land, the business community who are investing and creating job and the Chamber who is your voice - will continue to grow and prosper as the country and the economy take their rightful place in the heart of Europe," underlined Mr. Zukoski.
