On September, 24 the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine held a Business Roundtable with the U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey R. Pyatt in Odesa, aimed to discuss key aspects of anti-corruption policy, implementation of reforms and the current state of the Odesa business environment. The meeting was held in the framework of the Odesa Financial Forum.
In his welcoming remarks Mr. Andy Hunder, Chamber President, highlighted the importance of Odesa for the Chamber and Ukraine in general, as this city becomes much more vocal and recognized by international stakeholders as a viable investment destination.
Ambassador Geoffrey R. Pyatt stressed that Odesa has great potential for U.S. trade investment and economic partnership.
During the meeting, Chamber Members had an opportunity to voice their thoughts on issues and obstacles they face on a daily basis operating in Odesa with the top concerns being IT, agriculture, infrastructure, transportation/logistics, as well as taxation/tax reform, reform implementation and anti-corruption.
Despite these obstacles, Chamber Members operating in Odesa also expressed satisfaction with the current state of business affairs in the region and stressed the sharp increase in the level of trust with local authorities.
