Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine updated the participants that within the next few weeks the Service will prepare relevant legislative framework and launch software system that will exclude participation of customs officers in the customs clearance procedures.

Mr. Pyatnytskiy highlighted current developments in negotiations on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between European Union and Ukraine. Currently the Agreement is being prepared for initialing and practically all important issues have been finalized.

Highlighting current developments in the political and economic sphere here in Ukraine Ambassador Tefft, among other things, touched upon the impact of the Tymoshenko case on the international positioning of Ukraine, business issues that have been brought to his attention and the latest macroeconomic indicators.

Mr. Oleksiy Pshenychka, First Deputy Head of the State Inspection of Ukraine on Consumers Rights Protection, discussed recent developments in the State Technical Regulation Service of Ukraine caused by administrative reform, their future impact on technical regulation and consumer protection policy in the country as well as highlighted the priorities of the the State Inspection of Ukraine on Consumers Rights Protection activity.

The Chamber has jointly conducted the Round Table with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine devoted to the discussion of the upcoming changes in legislation on the immigration issues, in particular on new procedures regarding obtaining visa/work permits for foreigners.

On Wednesday, August 31 the Chamber was pleased to hold an “In-Focus” Meeting with Mr. Volodymyr Gorzheev, First Deputy Head of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, Deputy Senior Inspector of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine.

On Tuesday, July 5^th, 2011 the Chamber held an In-Focus Meeting with Mr. Yuriy Kravchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. 

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss recommended solutions to the issues of major concern to the international business community that are stifling additional investment into this important sector of Ukraine’s economy.

The Chamber held an In-Focus meeting with Mr. Valeriy Pyatnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, one of Ukraine’s principal negotiators on the issues of European integration and cooperation with the World Trade Organization.

The Chamber hosted "In-Focus" Meeting with Mr. Oleksandr Yefremov, Chairman of the Faction, and the key People's Deputies of the Party of Regions in the Verkhovna Rada.

Mr. Kaletnik together with his team engaged in active and focused dialog and highlighted the prospects of customs development in Ukraine as well as covered aspects of the customs control and clearance of goods during Chamber Members' foreign economic activity.

Mr. Vitaliy Zakharchenko has agreed to engage in an active and focused dialog with Chamber Members and highlight current issues within the sphere of the activities of the State Tax Service.

The Chamber has invited experts with a variety of backgrounds and orientations to provide a well rounded discussion including Mr. Kost Bondarenko, Mr. Vadym Karasiov, Mr. Vitaliy Portnikov, and Mr. Andriy Yermolaev.

Continuing the active working dialog with senior state officials to communicate our policy agenda for the benefit of our Membership, the Chamber hosted the Chamber "In-Focus" Meeting with First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Mr. Volodymyr Korniyenko.

The Chamber invited all IPR Committee Members as well as all interested Members of the Chamber to participate in the meeting with the Mr. Volodymyr Zharov, First Deputy Head of the State Department on Intellectual Property, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

On Wednesday, November 18, the Chamber hosted an "In-Focus" Meeting with Mr. Sergiy Siomka, Deputy Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

The Chamber hosted a Fuel and Energy Committee Meeting with guest speaker, Mr. Volodymyr Ignashchenko, First Deputy Minister for Environmental Protection.

On October 13, Chamber “In-Focus” Meeting with Mr. Vitaliy Khomutynnik, newly elected Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy, took place.

The Chamber hosted Chamber General Membership Meeting entitled "Ukraine – On the Road to Stability" that shed light on the current political and economic affairs in Ukraine with a focus on the impact on the business and investment environment.

Chamber "Insiders View" Meeting - EURO 2012: Plans and Priorities for Ukrainian Host Cities Chosen in Bucharest took place on Thursday, May 14. This time the format of the event included presentation of Mr. Ivan Vasiunyk, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Mr. Grygoriy Surkis, President of the Football Federation of Ukraine.

During the meeting Mr. Volodymyr Slabiy, Head of the UkrPEC shared with all interested Chamber Members his thoughts and opinions regarding the Draft Law as well as participants had an opportunity to discuss the document receiving answers for questions.

The Chamber was pleased to host Mr. Suslov, Head of the State Commission for Regulation of Financial Services Markets of Ukraine.

The Chamber has held the meeting organized in conjunction with the ABA Rule of Law Initiative focused on corruption in permit system and administrative services and cooperation of the law enforcement bodies on the abovementioned issues.

The Chamber proudly hosted the Round Table "Increasing Ukraine's Competitiveness - Government & Business Partnership", devoted to the launch of Chamber analytical publication "Partnership for Successfully Competing in the Global Economy".

The Chamber Policy Team was pleased to hold another successful "Insiders View" Meeting which focused on the current political situation and possible scenarios for further developments within the prism of the global financial crisis.

On March 16, the Chamber had an "In-Focus" meeting with Mr. Mykola Azarov, Head of the Parliamentarian Committee on Finance and Banking.

The panelist included Mr. Max Alier - newly appointed IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine, Mr. Andre Kuusvek - Director, Ukraine - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Ms. Olena Voloshyna - Country Representative in Ukraine of the International Finance Corporation (IFC)

The meeting was dedicated to such topics as current customs clearance procedures and regulations, priority areas of custom service operations, issues around determination of customs values, Draft Customs Code, future changes impacting these procedures, further reforms of the State Customs Services, etc.

The Chamber invited all interested Chamber Members to meet with Mr. Hryhoriy Nemyrya, Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine who in his speech covered many areas of the European policy of Ukraine highlighting short-term and mid-term goals as well as success stories.

Continuing the series of "Insiders View" sessions the Chamber invited all interested Members to attend: Chamber "Insiders View" - the Current Global Instability and the Repercussions for Ukraine: A View from February 2009.

Considering the importance of this legislation for the Ukrainian economy and strengthening of its competitiveness the Chamber invited all interested Chamber Members to take part in a discussion devoted to PPP legislation with a Special Presentation entitled: Legal Basis for Implementation of the Public Private Partnerships in Ukraine: Ideology of the New Law on PPP.

The Meeting was dedicated to the overview of the legislative field on IPR protection, practical aspects of its implementation.

This time the Chamber was pleased to hold a special Chamber "In-Focus" meeting with Mr. Oleksandr Melnychenko, the Acting Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.

The next in the ongoing series of Chamber "In-Focus" Meetings was dedicated to one of the most significant areas attracting attention of the Ukrainian, European and global business and political community - Energy Security of Ukraine.

Continuing the series of Chamber "In-Focus" Meetings exploring the repercussions of the global financial turbulence on the business community operating in Ukraine, the Chamber held its next meeting with Mr. Serhiy Terokhin, the Head of the Parliamentarian Committee on Tax and Customs Policy.

The Chamber continuing its active dialogue with senior Governmental officials and communicating our policy agenda for the benefit of our Membership invited Mr. Borys Tarasyuk, Head of the Parliamentarian Committee on European Integration to attend the first in the Series In-Focus Meetings in 2009.

The Chamber was pleased to wrap up the 2008 series of "In-Focus" Meetings with Ukrainian high-level officials providing an opportunity to interact directly with the Deputy Head of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine.
